Stand "Forest Glade"
The "Forest Glade" stand has two formicarium blocks for ants to live in: a wooden one made in a natural tree trunk and a gypsum one with a ventilation and gradient humidification system. By changing the humidity in the gypsum block, it is possible to stimulate the ants to transfer their larvae and food supplies to other parts of the formicarium. This is a very exciting and interesting process to observe, especially since it can now be controlled!
There is a drinking bowl in the arena, made in the form of a volcano. It is filled with water and small stones, from where the ants get water for their needs.
Natural minerals such as Burmese quartz, calcite druse, and apatite were used to decorate the stand.
The stand is inhabited by a colony of harvester ants of the Messor barbarus species. These are very beautiful and active ants, with large soldiers that have large, bright red heads.
